Selecting the Right Mens Wedding Ring

A wedding is a momentous occasion that the bride and groom will remember for the rest of their lives. At the average wedding ceremony, vows and rings are exchanged before family, friends and a presiding official. While it's true that a wedding is a joyous event, it can often be a lot of work to plan. There are so many things to think about. The bride will need to choose her wedding dress, the location must be chosen, and the wedding rings selected. In this article, you'll learn more about choosing the right mens wedding ring for the groom to be.

The selection process actually begins with the engagement ring. Sometimes, the potential groom will choose the engagement ring on his own and present it to his loved one as a surprise. Other times, the woman will actually help choose her own engagement ring. The traditions involved in choosing an engagement ring vary from couple to couple. Some couples have an engagement ring that has been handed down as a family heirloom. Others head to the jewelry store to select the diamond of their dreams. The reason that a mens band has a lot to do with the engagement ring is because it is customary for the bands to match the engagement ring. You wouldn't want a yellow gold engagement ring paired with platinum bands, for example.

Most of the time, the groom's ring will be wider than the bride's. This is simply because a man's fingers are larger and can pull off a wider, more masculine band. The most popular metals for wedding bands are yellow gold, white gold and platinum. Stainless steel is one of the newest metals that some progressive couples are choosing for their bands. While you could choose a silver wedding band, you may not want to because the other metals are simply more durable and lasting.

The mens wedding ring you select doesn't have to be a plain band. There are bands that are engraved and adorned in all sorts of ways. You can choose a wedding band featuring diamonds, or one that's been cut with intricate detailing. Some wedding bands actually combine different colors of gold for a modern, eye-catching look. All in all, the groom should select a band that coordinates with the bride's that he likes and feels comfortable wearing. It's also important to choose the correct size. To obtain the right ring size, ask your jeweler to measure your ring finger.
