If the engaged couple is close family and you have plenty of money, you will want to give them a very nice gift. If the couple is also going to be new homeowners, you might want to buy them lawn equipment or even a new piece of furniture. If other members of the family aren’t as wealthy and you are afraid of everyone thinking you are grandstanding, you might buy a nice gift and then give them the large purchase later. If you work in an office, you are bound to be invited to many weddings even when you barely know one member of the happy couple. In these cases, you should try if possible to join with several other people in the office and give a group gift. This way the couple gets a nice gift and no one spends much money. If the office worker is a good friend, you will want to give them gifts commiserate with your friendship. Again, don’t go overboard. You may want to check the gift registry for ideas. Gift registries are wonderful ways to buy the perfect gift. The couple gets what they want and you don’t have to stress over the gift.
