Golden Wedding Anniversary Gifts - 50 years of Marriage
Reaching the Golden Anniversary milestone is certainly an exciting time in a couple’s life. Being together in marriage for fifty years is
worth quite a celebration. Most of the time, the couple’s family or friends give them a party to celebrate this wonderful landmark in their
lives. Many couples ask for no gifts, but most people ignore the warning. If no such warning exists, the sky’s the limit as far as presents are
concerned.
Even though this is the golden wedding anniversary, you do not have to give the couple gold. That would be rather pricy. The gift depends
largely on your budget and the situation of the couple. Also, your relationship to the couple should be taken into account.
If the couple has children, grandchildren, and even great grandchildren, the entire group may get together for a group gift. They are probably
paying for the party so money might be a problem. Obviously, the party will be part of the gift. If this is the case, family members might get
together and have a family photograph of the entire family made by a professional photographer. This is especially nice if the couple is ill or
in a retirement home. A profession photograph of the family with a pretty frame makes a perfect present.
If money and health issues are not a problem a great idea is to give the golden couple a cruise or resort vacation, all expenses paid. If you
are giving this type of gift that cannot be returned, make sure that the couple enjoys traveling, has cruised before or has always wanted to sail
away on a ship, or loves surprises and adventure. You might even broach the idea of this type of gift before the purchase. A vacation doesn’t
even have to be a surprise. You might ask for input or even what date or place is best.
Another present that doesn’t cost any money but is always acceptable is the gift of time. You might make up a coupon booklet of chores,
visits, telephone calls, or any gift of yourself that your parents might enjoy. All they have to do is call to claim a coupon and you give them
the gift of yourself. If the family lives close by, this is a great idea. If the family is spread out across the country, not such a great idea
but you get the point.
Party goers often wish to give a little gift even if the invitation says no gifts. A great suggestion for a small gift is to look for little
knick knacks that say 50th Wedding Anniversary. I know this seems a little trite, but most women like this type of thing. Another idea is to give
a lovely card. You can personalize the card with a special memory of the couple. If you are close friends with the couple, you might give them a
gift card for a restaurant dinner. Offer to accompany them on the trip. Of course, you would pay your own tab.
A 50th wedding anniversary gift is a show of love. Think about the couple and their lives together and you will know the perfect gift. It’s
the thought that counts anyway.
