Popular Engagement
Wedding Ring Styles
An engagement is a very special
time in the life of any couple. There are three very special rings
that are an important part of most every engagement and wedding
ceremony. They are the engagement ring, the groom's wedding ring,
and the bride's wedding ring. There are a variety of engagement
wedding ring styles available at today's jewelry stores. In this
article, you'll learn a bit more about some of the more popular
styles, as well as new trends in wedding jewelry.
The most traditional type of
engagement and wedding rings are those set in yellow gold. The
bands are plain, with the man's ring usually a bit wider than the
woman's. The engagement ring is a diamond solitaire in the couple's
preferred shape. Solitaires come in shapes like round, oval,
square, pear, diamond and even heart-shaped. Some brides like to
accent their diamond solitaire with a ring wrap containing either
two diamonds or other gemstones like sapphire or ruby.
Another popular trend that's
been around for a long time is that of the platinum ring.
Engagement rings and wedding bands made from platinum represent
some of the finest in the world. Platinum is more pure than gold.
It's also more durable and long-lasting. Many people love the rich,
silvery appearance of this expensive precious metal for their
wedding rings.
There are some new trends
popping up in the world of wedding jewelry. They include stainless
steel and titanium. Both of these metals are silver in color. They
are also strong, durable and modern. While titanium and stainless
steel are not nearly as mainstream as yellow gold, white gold or
platinum, they represent an alternative for many of today's
progressive couples. You can find rings made from these metals that
are simple and basic, or ornate and extravagant. Because of the
growing popularity of these somewhat new jewelry-making metals,
buyers have a lot of choices available to them.
For many, choosing engagement
wedding ring styles is as important or more so than choosing the
wedding dress or location. After all, the rings exchanged represent
the sanctity of marriage and serve as a symbol of everlasting love
and commitment. When shopping for wedding rings, a couple should
work together to select rings that are beautiful, symbolic and
affordable for their particular budget.
