The Allure of the
Double Quilt Wedding Ring Design
The very symbols depicted
in this pattern are romantic in nature -- two interlocking rings
that symbolize the eternal commitment between husband and wife. The
history of the double wedding ring quilt is a rich and varied one.
This pattern was first published in 1928 by a paper called Capper's
Weekly. In this paper, it was said that when the first man came up
with the concept of wedding rings, his wife worked them into a
quilt pattern.
In 1932, more lore and legend
became attached to the double wedding ring design thanks to a
brochure that told the story of a Civil War romance. An engaged
woman waited for many years for her groom to-be to return to her
after being wounded in the war. He eventually did, but had no rings
for the wedding. The woman's aunt was a skilled quilter and offered
her the double wedding ring quilt to make up for the missing rings.
Whether or not the story is true is not known. What is known is
that many people became enthralled with the romantic ideas behind
this beautiful pattern.
The double wedding ring quilt
has always been something special. The care and effort that goes
into making any quilt is substantial. However, the added romance
that comes with this design makes it even more special. A double
wedding ring quilt is a perfect wedding gift for any couple, one
that is sure to be treasured for years to come. It is a practical
gift that can be used for a good purpose while bringing beauty to
any room. You can find double wedding ring quilts in all sorts of
color schemes, but the majority of them are going to be soft, muted
shades like pastels.
The wedding ring is the most
important symbol of any marriage. The unbroken circle represents
the never ending love and commitment between husband and wife.
Working this symbol into a quilt makes it a perfect addition to any
couple's bedroom. A double quilt wedding ring pattern is one of the
most popular for many quilting enthusiasts and for good reason.
This type of quilt offers beauty, warmth and romance to anyone who
owns it!
